Planning - Ways Of Making Syncing Is Easier

Ways Of Making Syncing Easier
To make sure the band is in time with the music we have came up with two theories. We had to keep in mind that the two main people that needed to hear the track was the drummer, to make sure all his hits are in sync, and the vocalist, to make sure all the words he sings are sustained for the right amount of time and his expressions are similar. As this is a band video, in many of the shots everyone will have to play, so we came up with these two theories to cater for the needs of the band and the tightness and smoothness of our production.

Click and Sound
As you see below the diagram we will use headphones and a PA system. We will use a laptop to play the track. As i have sorted out the track on a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) i have managed to split audio to make sure everyone is playing in time. Out of one output, the drummer will be playing to a click track (metronome). This will be no hassle for him as we found out that during live performance he already plays to clicks. This will ensure that what he plays will be exactly in time with what is on the track. Out of the other output, the track will play out of the PA system. This will be situated behind the camera/in front of the vocalist. This is so the vocalist can make sure his vocals are in time with the track and his expressions can be the same. This is also so the other band can hear the track, so they can keep in time, but not just with the drummer.
This is a screen shot of us setting up our metronome on Logic 9.

Sound
This will be using just the track. It will play out of a PA system, apart from unlike last time, the speakers will be split around set, yet hidden. The first speaker, as the other theory, will be situated behind the camera and in front of the vocalist. This time, the second speaker will be situated behind one of the amps, therefore blocking the speaker from view of the camera. This is so the drummer can also play to the song, yet will be much easier to hear when the speaker is closer to him.
