Institutions

For our band/song we have chosen (In Archives - Step Down) we researched into institutions we could use to promote the video and album release. There were two main channels that caught our eyes, due to there reputation within the genre and there success over the past years.

Kerrang!
Kerrang was originally a magazine published by 'Emap'. After being named a onomatopoeic name (by what the sound of a power chord makes) they began there career in june 1981. The branched out over the years and now own, a magazine, a radio station, an awards night, a music channel and a annual tour. After making such an impact on the metal industry we thought that Kerrang may be a suggestion. As they use all different types of media, we can publish the band through the company, using there video channel, there magazine and other media services the provide. As the magazine has been so successful, as the music channel, this could do the band justice.

Scuzz
Scuzz has always been a music channel owned by 'CSC Media Group' - who own over 20 music channels. It is a rather new channel only starting 8 years ago in 2003. The also are in connection with all the major festivals, giving footage through the channel of these festivals every year. Recently they have started a website as well. This channel is specific to hardcore and metal genres. As this is the case, we immediately had an interest for our band to use its channels. Although it lacks in the amount of media types 'Kerrang!' does, it is specific to the genres the band have formed inspiration from. Also, because of the company that 'Scuzz' is run by, and the success they have had, the band would benefit from being taken on through this music channel.

Conclusion
Due to the shear amount of media types and success rate they have had, we have decided as a group to go for 'Kerrang!' as our institution. We made this decision because of the reputation the channel/magazine/etc has over the UK and Europe and the exposure the band will have through the amount of views on the channel and readers. 'Kerrang!' are extremely successful in what they do, and after the amount of years they have done doing this, it seemed a more suited idea to pick this institution as the company seem to have succeeded well before hand.
